What to Expect
Our foraging courses are educational walks through various sites, ecosystems, and locations across north Oakland County. You can expect us to cover the basics of meeting and identifying plants, learning about their qualities, uses, and ecological functions, and delicious ways to incorporate them into daily life. We will go over ethical foraging guidelines & principles, sustainability, and plant & ecosystem history and functions.

2015 Wild Food Plant Walk Dates:
May 10th
Walk Focus: Spring greens, shoots, herbs and roots.
June 14th
Walk Focus: Early summer produce, greens, shoots, flowers, pollens, herbs and the first fruits of the season.
July 5th
Walk Focus: Summer fruits, greens & leaves, flowers, pollen, herbs and more.
August 16th
Walk Focus: Late summer fruits, leaves, flowers, and herbs.
October 11th
Walk Focus: Fall fruits, nuts, roots, greens, and how to harvest/process/store wild foods for winter.
Times: All plant walks dates are scheduled for 9:00am to 1:00pm. They may run a bit shorter, but budget for that time frame.
Locations: All plant walk locations are confirmed at least 3 days prior to the scheduled date. Participants are notified over email of where to meet and with any pertinent direction information and maps. Locations are within 5-15 miles of Clarkston, MI.
